VERNON, Vt. -- Vera E. Vaughan, 92, of Ft. Bridgman Road, died Saturday (11-21-09) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
She was born in West Northfield, Mass., on Sept. 14, 1917, the daughter of Homer and Rena (Martindale) Vaughan.
She attended schools in Springfield, Vt., and Charlestown, N.H. She worked as clerk in the South Vernon, Vt., Post Office, then worked for the Advent Christian Homes in Vernon for many years.
She was a member and active in the Advent Christian Church in Vernon and also belonged to the Vernon Historical Society.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Murray and her husband, Ernest, of Vernon; a brother, George Reed and his wife, Ruth, of Winter Haven, Fla.; and cousins Ralph Spencer and his wife, Marion of Oswego, N.Y., and Robert Spencer and his wife, Jennie, of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Victor Vaughan and Richard Reed.
Funeral services will be Friday (11-27-09) at 2 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church, Ft. Bridgman Road, Vernon. The Rev. Bruce Burks, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Vernon.
There will be a calling hour at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
