If you live in Greenfield and received a bag for food last Saturday, don't forget to put that bag back out Saturday, filled with non-perishable food for the Franklin Area Survival Center.
Not only Scouts are involved. The YMCA Leaders Club, the Greenfield High School Student Council and parents distributed the bags for the Scouts. They're trying to beat last year's record of 5,000 pounds of food.
Jean Thurber said the Turners Falls based center has already given out at least 159 frozen turkeys and chickens. They will be available to those qualified through Tuesday.
If you did not receive a bag from the Scouts, you could drop off some non-perishables at the First Congregational Church on Silver Street from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
MARY CAVANAUGH of the Survival Center reports Women of the Moose donated 36 pounds of food and Northeast Foundation for Children gave the center 203 pounds of food.
