1922-2009
HOLYOKE -- Mary A. Carey, 87, born June 4, 1922 in the home of her parents, James J. and Anna (Brennan) Carey of Whately, passed away at Holyoke Geriatric on Oct. 15, 2009.
She is survived by her brother, James Carey and his wife Helen of College Park, Md. She also leaves a niece and several nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Francis Carey and his wife Mary; her sister, Marjorie Sinclair and her husband Harvey Sinclair and her sister, Helen Carey.
Mary attended elementary schools in Whately, Deerfield High School in South Deerfield and Northampton Commercial College.
She enjoyed her retirement after a lengthy period of employment at the Massachusetts Career Development Center in the city of Springfield. Mary also worked at the Springfield Armory.
A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadeloupe on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in South Deerfield.
