Helen F. Braman

FLORENCE -- Helen F. Braman, 91, of 188 North Maple St., died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, surrounded by her family at Overlook of Northampton.

Born in Northampton, Jan. 17, 1918, Helen was the daughter of the late Franciszek Sadowski of the Village of Suwalki, City of Dembowo, Poland, and Josefa Gryskiewicz of the Village of Osinki, Coity of Dembowo, Poland. She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, Class of 1935.

Helen retired from the former Pro Brush Co., where she worked as an office clerk.

She was the widow of George H. Braman, who died in 1986. They had been married for 46 years at the time of his death.

Helen was an accomplished seamstress whose knowledge and talent went beyond simple sewing and into the realm of fine fashion. She was also known as a talented painter. Among her other interests were travel, art and craft fairs, reading and playing cards with her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carole Braman Finnessey and Samuel Finnessey, Sr. of South Deerfield; two grandsons, Atty. Samuel ''S.J.'' J. Finnessey, Jr. of East Greenbush, N.Y., and Michael J. Finnessey of Erie, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph F. Sadowski, and three sisters, Fannie Mitele, Joanne S. Roberts and Harriet S. Kapansky.

Calling hours for Helen will be held Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect St., Northampton.

The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
