ASHFIELD -- Dubious weather and brisk winds couldn't put a damper on the quintessential New England fall afternoon that provided the backdrop for the first day of Ashfield's Fall Festival.
The 39th annual festival ran Saturday and Sunday.
At least 20 food vendors, dozens of artisans as well as musicians, dancers, community organizations and volunteers helped to make one of the area's favorite seasonal events possible.
''It's a good turnout, it's a big event,'' said Sandy Lilly, chair of the festival committee. ''Everyone's eager and ready to go.''
