Rosalie Sargent

GREENFIELD -- Rosalie (Gordon) Sargent, 68, of Greenfield, died on Wednesday (10-7-09) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Born on Nov. 2, 1940 in Brockton, she was the daughter of Raymond and Charlotte (Hungerford) Gordon. She was a 1957 graduate of Greenfield High School.

Rosalie was married on July 30, 1960 to William Sargent. She worked at Phoenix Mutual Insurance for many years as manager of Policy Titles.

She was a member of the Greenfield Alliance Church and was actively involved in the church, including singing in the choir.

She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially playing board games with her grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, the Rev. Donald and his wife Rebecca of Frederick, Md., and Lawrence of Greenfield; daughter, Brenda Cocco and her husband Brian of Turners Falls; five grandchildren: Benjamin and Daniel Sargent, Amber Allen and Kandra and Nichelle Cocco. Rosalie also leaves three brothers: Dr. Raymond Gordon Jr. of Texas, David Gordon of Maryland and the Rev. Bruce Gordon of Illinois; four sisters: Gwendolyn Luke of Texas, Evangelyn Tenney of Connecticut, Roberta Gordon of Greenfield and Starr Stevens of Montana, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1997.

Funeral services for Rosalie will be on Wednesday (10-14-09) at 10 a.m. at the Greenfield Alliance Church with the Rev. Arthur Warner officiating. Her son, the Rev. Donald W. Sargent, will give the eulogy. Burial will follow in Green River Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 14 High St.
