Stella J. Margola

GREENFIELD -- Stella J. (Milewski) Margola, 92, of 10 Congress St., died Friday (10-2-09) at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

She was born in Montague on Dec. 6, 1916, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Sawicki) Milewski. She attended local schools in Turners Falls and had been a resident of Greenfield since 1940.

Stella felt fortunate she was able to stay home and raise her five children. Her passion and focus was on her ever growing family, in their many successes and accomplishments.

She was a very devoted communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Stella enjoyed socializing at cards and bingo at the High Rise. She enjoyed both outdoor and indoor gardening, especially cultivating African violets.

In her later years, she enjoyed the loyal and caring compassion of two special people: Jean Olanyck and Carolyn Taylor.

Her husband of 58 years, Julian E. Margola, predeceased her in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Edward ''Butch'' L. Margola, C.P.A, and his wife Gillian of Gill and Michael R. Margola and his wife Minona of Greenfield; three daughters, Dorothy A. Lord of Lowell, Kathleen M. Fish and her husband Rene of West Chesterfield, N.H., and Jo-Anne E. Gale and her husband David of Swanzey, N.H.; a sister, Jennie Moltenbrey of Greenfield; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Klump of Easthampton, Jocelyn Leete of Erving, Sophie Margola of Gill, Isabel, Lily and Juliet Margola of Greenfield, Jeff Lord of Greenfield, Julie Morrison of Melrose, Caitlyn Gale of New York City and Ryan Gale of Swanzey, N.H.; five great-grandchildren, Colby and Carter Leete, Calvin and Madeline Klump and Robert Morrison, and several nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
