MILLERS FALLS -- Carol A. (Machaiek) Lapointe, 60, of 13 Bridge St., died Monday (9-28-09) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
She was born in Montague on Jan. 26, 1949, the daughter of Peter and Sophie (Kopec) Machaiek. She graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1967 and had been a lifelong resident of Millers Falls.
Carol was a cook for Franklin County Home Care Corp. Meals on Wheels for several years. Previously, she was employed in cafeteria services at Turners Falls High School.
She was a communicant of the former St. John's Church in Millers Falls and currently a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Turners Falls.
Carol was a member of the Turners Falls Fire District Finance Committee and a town meeting member. Also, she was a member of the former Millers Falls Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary and the Millers Falls Drum Corps.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, camping and reading. Also, she loved Polish traditions and customs. She was an avid Patriots fan.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Claude E. Lapointe; a son, Christopher M. and his wife Kerri of Turners Falls; a daughter, Tracy L. Lefebvre and her husband Eric of New Milford, Conn.; a brother, Peter Machaiek of Winthrop, Minn.; two grandchildren, Sophie and Claire Lefebvre, and several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
