Theodore S. Liguz

SOUTH DEERFIELD -- Theodore ''Teddy'' S. Liguz, 74, of 9 Conway St., died Tuesday evening (9-8-09) in Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

He was born in Warren, Nov. 11, 1934, the son of Peter Sr. and Katheryn (Javoski) Liguz. He was educated in Warren and South Deerfield schools and attended Deerfield High School.

He was drafted into the Army in June of 1957. Upon his discharge in 1959, he went to work for Warner Bros. Construction in Sunderland until his retirement.

He married the former Margaret Lovett on Sept. 14, 1973 and all their married life was in South Deerfield.

Teddy was a lifetime member of the South Deerfield Polish-American Citizens Club. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots and Dale Ernhardt fan.

Besides his wife Peg, he leaves one sister, Sophie Dizek of South Deerfield, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Peter Liguz Jr. in 2008 and three sisters, Theresa Strezelski, Rose Kurzava Resnick and Helen Maida.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Wrisley Funeral Home, 90 Sugarloaf St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Philippe Roux, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mill River Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight from 5 to 7.
