ERVING -- Jacqueline M. (Holden) Meattey, 72, of 14 East Main Street, died on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
She was born May 1, 1937 in Colebrook, NH, the daughter of Mary A. (Dube) and Leo E. Holden. She attended Colebrook Academy and high school in Orange, MA.
Jacqueline was married to Almon L. Meattey on October 22, 1955 and they had enjoyed almost 34 years of marriage at the time of his death on June 8, 1989.
She worked at Wright's in West Warren, MA, the Erving Paper Mill, and Mount Grace Transportation. She was also a former member of the Erving Fire Department.
Her greatest joy was being a loving grandmother to her nine grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Meattey, with whom she lived with, and Cathy Pollard and her husband, Bruce, of Erving; sons, Almon "Bud" Meattey and his finacee, Sonya Patterson, and Herman "Butch" Meattey, all of Erving; nine grandchildren, Cayla, Emily, Brandon, and Blake Pollard, Jordan, Jasmine, and Ally Meattey, Kyle Meattey, and Keira Richardson-Meattey; sisters, Betty Stanton of North Stratford, NH, Juliette Marsh of Erving, and Nancy Woodbury and her husband, Lloyd, of Clinton, IL; sister-in-laws, Marilyn Burnett and her husband, Gary, and Beverly Holden, whom she was close to; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Lou Lynch, and brothers, Freeman Holden and Richard Holden.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening, August 25th, from 6-8PM at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, August 26th, at 11:00AM at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange, with Rev. Harold V. "Skip" Lloyd Jr., of the Athol Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Erving Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Erving Firefighters Association, c/o Luke Hartnett, P.O. Box 355, Erving, MA 01344.
