JACKSONVILLE, Vt. -- Edna ''Ande'' (Avera) Murdock, 76, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1932 in Paterson, N.J., the daughter of Charles N. and Edna M. (Royle) Avera. She was a 1950 graduate of the Kimberly School for Girls in Montclair, N.J., and was a graduate of Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J.
She was married to Forrest E. Murdock on June 9, 1962 in Glen Rock, N.J. Forrest passed away on Nov. 15, 1998.
She worked at the International Travel Service in New Jersey and for a short time after that at the University of Vermont. She was the manager at the Lodge at Mount Snow. She owned and operated Royles Bazaar in Wilmington for a number of years.
She enjoyed knitting, card making and watching NASCAR races and was also a big fan of ''All My Children.''
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Andrew Peter Murdock and his wife Laurie of Springfield, Vt., and Matthew Royle Murdock and his wife Sandra of Wilmington, Vt.; her brother, Vernon Royle Avera of Jacksonville, Vt.; her grandchildren, Leah Marie, Ian, Whitney and Kyle, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Jacksonville Community Church.
