Marshall E. Lamorie

COLRAIN -- Marshall E. Lamorie, 90, of Colrain, died Wednesday (7-8-09) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

Born May 29, 1919 in Colrain, he was the son of Lawrence and Euna (Beaudry) Lamorie. Growing up in Colrain, he attended Foundry Village and Colrain Central grammar schools. He was a 1938 graduate of the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls.

Marshall joined the U.S. Navy on Nov. 6, 1940 and eventually received his fifth honorable discharge in July of 1964, making him a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

At the time of his retirement in 1986, he was working for the EBASCO Corp. in Bay City, Texas, as a quality control welding inspector.

He was a life member of Shelburne Falls VFW Post 8503, member of American Legion Cecil Lee Post 649, Blessing, Texas, as well as the Fleet Reserve Association, Alexandria, Va., and past member of Mt. Mariah Masonic Lodge in Westfield.

His hobbies were traveling, coin collecting and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, the former Margarita Mabag; daughters, Chrisabeth Lamorie of Colrain, Bonnie Vieira and her husband Michael of Palacios, Texas, their three children, Shawn, Shannon and Richard; a son, Richard Lamorie of Palacios, his four children, Melanie, Sharon, Lisa and Michael. He also leaves 13 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include Beatriz Estrella of Colrain, her three children and her seven great-grandchildren, Carlito M. Marcial, his wife and two daughters and son of Manila, Philippines, Pacita Javien, her husband and five daughters, as well as Antonio M. Marcial Jr. and his wife Lilibeth of Jaffrey, N.H., Wanda Lamorie of Colrain, Laura Finck of Shelburne Falls, Barbara Mckenna and husband Chad of Charlemont, Kim Hoynoski and husband Chris and Matthew Lamorie of Worcester; 12 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Lamorie.

Calling hours are today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 104 Bridge St., Shelburne Falls.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:15 p.m. from the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church at 2 p.m. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at West Branch Cemetery in Colrain.
