COLRAIN -- Maurice A. Beausoleil, 75, of 120 Nelson Road, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, 130 Colrain Road, Greenfield, following a period of declining health.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he was born on July 13, 1933 to Paul and Rachel (Cloutier) Beausoleil. He came to the United States at the tender age of 6 months with his grandmother, Mable Brooks, and settled in the Franklin County area. Maurice was educated in Deerfield Public Schools as a child.

He was the principle owner/operator of Bostley Sanitary Services, a company he founded in 1950 and operated continually until his death, alongside his son Michael.

Maurice was an accomplished recorded musician, known to many as the ''Fabulous Maurice'' and played several instruments including the fiddle and guitar, but was best known for his musical styling's on the ''squeezebo''x or accordion. He became a recorded musician at the age of 69 recording three CD's of selected music. He could often be found playing for area groups and at numerous area events, as well as having played at the Parker House in Boston and for the Kennedy family at their compound on Cape Cod.

He was a 50-plus year member of the Greenfield Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E No. 1296 and enjoyed as leisure time activities vintage antique cars and trucks, his love of music and traveling around the countryside on day trips, often in his Ford Model ''A'' Phaeton. Maurice truly enjoyed many people and entertained them with his wonderful sense of humor.

He is lovingly remembered by his family, who include his children: Michael J. Beausoleil and his wife Christine of Colrain, Maurice J. Beausoleil of Charlemont, Pamela A. Roldan and her husband John of Greenfield, Bonnie S. Kleinfelter and her husband Gene ''Duffy'' of Norfolk, Va., and Maureen D. North and her husband Richard of Norfolk, Va. Additionally, Maurice leaves his loving siblings: Claire Rocette, Gisele Briere, Jean Paul Beausoleil, Erma Jasmin and Laurent Beausoleil.

He was predeceased by his sister, Therese' Clache.

Maurice leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

He leaves his loving and devoted companion of 30 years, Nancy Langan of Greenfield.

Maurice was predeceased by an infant daughter Sheila.

He leaves his former spouses, Doris L. Laskowski and Joanna Allen.

Services in celebration of Maurice's life will be observed on Thursday, July 9, 2009, with graveside services to be conducted at 11 a.m. from West Leyden Cemetery. The Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Greenfield, will offer the Catholic Rite of Burial Service. Kenneth and Lucy Lincoln will provide musical accompaniment. A reception will be announced at the conclusion of the services.
