GREENFIELD -- The Zoning Board of Appeals will try once more to vote on a proposed 47-megawatt biomass electrical generating plant on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Greenfield High School cafeteria.

The board voted to permit the plant, which will be located on Mackin Construction Co. property abutting the industrial park, at its meeting June 29, but that meeting was in question of being in violation of the state Open Meeting Law, because it could not be proven that it was posted at least 48 hours beforehand.

After listening to hours of public comment and doing extensive site plan reviews, the board earlier this week discussed its findings and voted to approve the $250 million Pioneer Renewable Energy project spearheaded by Matthew Wolfe of Madera Energy Inc. of Cambridge.

The board's decision came with threats from Greenfield and area residents of lawsuits, as well as some emotionally charged words directed at the developer and his team.
