TURNERS FALLS -- Jane L. Gilbert, 81, formerly of 14 Griswold St., died Saturday morning (6-27-09) at Applewood Healthcare Center, Winchester, N.H.
She was born in Montague on Aug. 12, 1927, the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Baker) Dunnell.
She was raised in Bernardston and was a graduate of Powers Institute in Bernardston.
She married Lester Gilbert on Oct. 29, 1951, in West Swanzey, N.H. Mr. Gilbert pre-deceased her in 1988.
She lived most of her life in Turners Falls.
She loved all animals, especially horses and cats. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, painting and writing.
She is survived by her son John and his wife, Marge, of Colrain, and two grandchildren, Raymond Gilbert and his wife, Tasha, and Nathan Gilbert and Megan Cloutier; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Hannah.
A graveside service will be Wednesday (7-1-09) at Center Cemetery, Bernardston, at |11 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Parrill will officiate.
There are no calling hours.
