Elzie M. Jennings

MONTAGUE -- Elzie M. (Foster) Jennings, 90, formerly of 4 K St., died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Buckley HealthCare Center in Greenfield, following an illness.

Born on Jan. 6, 1919, she was a daughter of Guy and Mary (Drake) Foster and grew up in Warwick, one of nine children.

She was married to Perley E. Jennings in 1936 and enjoyed 67 years together until his death on Dec. 26, 2003.

A hardworking and conscientious worker, Elzie worked at the former Orange Foundry for many years and previously had worked at the former N. D. Cass Toy Co. in Athol.

She was a devoted mother and wife and found much enjoyment having Sunday dinners together with her family and was known to buy or give things to others for their enjoyment.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam Kapise and her husband Keith of Turners Falls and Jeannie Peirce of Revere; grandchildren, Maxine, Max and his wife Robin, Michelle and her husband Doug, Micheline and her husband Phill, Tangie and Nicole; great-grandchildren, TJ, Amy, Amber and Logan; and great-great-grandchildren, Henry and Alyson-Rose.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 22, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, with the Rev. Mark Bariloni of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 319, South Deerfield, MA 01373-0319.
