James Walter Brooks

ACWORTH, N.H. -- James Walter Brooks, 65, of Acworth, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born June 9, 1943 in Bernardston, Mass., the son of Walter and Stella Brooks and he was a 1962 graduate of Hinsdale High School.

He worked in heating and plumbing and for the last 19 years at the Fall Mountain Union High School in Langdon.

James was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion, both in Bellows Falls, Vt., president of the Support Staff Union at Fall Mountain Regional High School in Langdon, was a member of the Hinsdale Fire Department and a member of the United Church of Acworth.

James leaves his longtime significant other Bette Butson of Acworth; his daughter, Donna Brooks/Wilcox of Windsor, Conn.; his brother, Jerry Brooks of Florida; three sisters, Linda Kinnard of Florida, Beverly Davidson of Hinsdale and Sharon Jett of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Derek Bobee of Hinsdale, John Antoniak of Broad Brook, Conn., David LeBlanc of Florida, Tiffany LeBlanc of Windsor, Conn., Timothy LeBlanc of Swanzey and Mathew Antoniak of Burlington, Vt.; nine great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be calling hours at the Fenton Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 12. There will be a funeral service at the Church on the Hill in Acworth on Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Peter Howe officiating.
