The winners of the 2009 Ashfield Filmfest at the town hall on Sept. 26, have been announced by Harry Keramidas, chairman. All 16 film entries were five minutes long, or shorter.
''The Great Ashfield Pancaper'' by Gayle Pancaper was grand prize winner.
Others were ''Dancing Queens'' by Nancy Hoff, first prize adult; ''History in a Free Fall'' by Galen Knowles, first prize, youth; ''Stocking the Food Pantry,'' by Tamsen Merrill, Ashfield history prize; and ''Locavore,'' by David Fessenden.
Hoff won the audience choice award for her ''Dancing Queens.''
''The hall holds 425 people and we had to turn people away,'' Keramidas said. ''We showed all 15 entries. It was lots of fun.'' He said the judges were from the community.
''We'll begin in January planning for next year's show,'' he said.
