Tom Ricardi, bottom right, releases a 14-pound female bald eagle that he raised from an egg laid by a pair of bald eagles in April that he cares for at his raptor rehabilitation center in Conway. Once released off the summit of Mount Sugarloaf in South Deerfield on Thursday, the bird soared over the Connecticut River and flew out of sight over the Sunderland landscape to the delight of onlookers, including a group of second-grade students from Conway Grammar School. Ricardi has raised and released over 30 bald eagles into the wild over the years.
