Bulletin Board: Miner Heptathlon leader
Kat Miner of Frontier Regional School registered 2,188 points to lead the way after four events in Day 1 of the Western Massachusetts Heptathlon on Monday at Northampton High School.
Kesheal Henderson of Mohawk Trail Regional High School is in second with 1,962 points, followed by teammate Ashley Pierce in fourth (1,872) and Mairead Ferry of Frontier in fifth (1,845).
Katherine Conlisk of Frontier is sixth (1,780), twin sister Sarah Conlisk is seventh (1,778), Natasha Olanyk of Mohawk came in eighth (1,777) and Sally Slowinski Mohawk stands ninth (1,725).
Pierce and Olanyk both broke school records during Saturday’s Central/Western Mass. Championships — Pierce in the 400 hurdles (71.03 seconds), and Olanyk in the 400 meters (59.31).
TCL Mickey Mantle
Justin Ward fired a three-hitter with six strikeouts as Mohawk J.S. Rae beat Amherst, 6-1, in a Tri-County Mickey Mantle Baseball League game Monday evening in Buckland.
Sam Smithers went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Zach Doyle added a single and two RBIs for Mohawk J.S. Rae.
Losing hurler John Bella-Hunter singled for Amherst.
FC Babe Ruth
Ross Akey hurled a complete game three-hitter to lead Akey Insurance over Marmac Concrete, 11-1, in a Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League game Monday night at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.
Eliot Mousseau had two hits and Jordan Loughman and Christian LaPlante each added singles for the winners.
• Elswewhere, MacKinnon Donnelly-Minshall had two hits and two RBI as St. Kazimierz Society defeated Turners Falls Athletic Club, 6-1, at Beacon Field.
Winning pitcher Max Charest combined with Hunter Wells on a four-hitter.
Xavier Santiago and Kiernan Freeman each had two hits for TFAC.
Greenfield Minor League
Jack Loud went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and five RBIs to power Denny’s Pantry to a 12-1 win over Gilmore-Farrell Insurance in a Greenfield Minor League youth baseball game Monday night at Lunt Field.
Nate Sciandra collected two hits and two RBIs, Julian Trenholm also drove in two runs, and Evan Leaf and Dar Newcomb each added two hits for the winners.
Brian Murphy struck out three in relief and had a single, Joe Monkiewicz doubled and Aaron Bursterin singled for Gilmire-Farrell.
• Elsewhere, Cameron Tuttle had two hits and three RBIs as Maniatty’s Real Estate bested Smitty’s Pub, 14-9.
Hunter Drost collected a single, double and two RBIs, and Alex Tirrell added a single and one RBI in support of winning pitcher Jared Hubbard.
Katie Haselton doubled and knocked in two runs, while Cam Baird and Samantha Smith each added two hits abnd one RBI.
• Finally, Jared Hart fired a one-hitter to lead Greenfield Elks Lodge over New Fortune Restaurant, 14-2, in five innings.
Cameron Rice singled, doubled and drove in a run, Hart doubled and Judan Retzlaff singled for Elks.
Anthony Holmes had the New Fortune hit.
Lucas Upham and Tyler Zilinski combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the Erving Eagles over Northfield/Bernardston, 13-1, in a four-inning Tri-County League Cal Ripken Baseball Major Division game Monday night in Erving.
Jared Bergmann led the offense with a single, double, triple and four RBIs. Gaelen Mast ripped three hits and drove in a pair of runs, Jivason Reil added two hits and Ryan Bergmann belted a two-run triple.
Noah Fuess and Kyle Maynard had the only hits for Northfield/Bernardston.
• In a Minor Division game, Jalen McGraw struck out 10 for the pitching win and added a two-run double and a two-run homer to power Northfield Green over Winchester, N.H, 19-7, in a five-inning game in Northfield.
Hunter Haughey added two singles and a two-run homer, Nate Wood smacked a two-run double and Gabe Smith chipped in an RBI triple.
Kevin Patterson had the lone hit for Winchester.
Jon Fritz pitched four innings of relief for the win to help Pipione’s Sport Shop to a 7-3 win over Greenfield Savings Bank in a Newt Guilbault Community League youth baseball game
Fritz and Connor Waitkus each had a triple and three RBI, and Justin Dobias tripled for the winners.
Mike Patnode had GSB’s only hit.
Nick Clarke went 4-for-4 to help Alber Hearing defeat Paciorek Electric, 13-4, in a Frontier Cal Ripken Baseball Major Division game Monday night at Herlihy Park in Whately.
Aiden Roche added an RBI triple and a single for the winners.
Ethan Machon and Owen Morse each double for Paciorek.
