Bulletin board: Local boys hoop all-stars

A dozen local boys’ basketball players were named to the 2013-14 Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Association All-Star team.

The teams are chosen by the coaches. Here’s a look at the 12.

Franklin Tech: Nate Boyer and Chris Wetherby.

Frontier: Ben Ruddock.

Greenfield: Garrett Hudson and Robin Marchese.

Mahar: Nick Slattery and Brendin Woodard.

Mohawk: Mark Buck.

Pioneer: Lennon Robichaud and Lee Doiron.

Turners Falls: Liam Ellis and Malcolm Smith.


Thomas Ladies

The Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club Ladies League will hold an organizational meeting on April 16 at 6 p.m. at the country club in Turners Falls.

FC Babe Ruth signups

The Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League will hold Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle registrations for the upcoming season tonight and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Greenfield Middle School.

These are the final two registration sessions for both leagues. The fee for Babe Ruth is $100, and because Mantle is tryout based, no money is needed at that time.

Officials courses

The Connecticut Valley Soccer Officials Association will conduct an instructional course for candidates for membership during April and May.

Classes will meet on five Thursday evenings between beginning this week through May 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All classes will convene at Deerfield Elementary School on Pleasant Street in South Deerfield. Cost of the course is $50.

Members of the CVSOA officiate scholastic soccer matches during the fall. Members must be 18 years of age or older.
