Tourneys postponed till today
They’ll all have to wait until today to play.
Five area teams were informed that their Wednesday tournament games were postponed due to a wintry mix of weather that was expected to hit the valley and Berkshire County.
Both of Wednesday’s Western Massachusetts Division III Volleyball Tournament semifinals were moved to today, with one time change. Top-seeded and seven-time defending champion Frontier Regional School (19-1) will now host No. 4 seed Lenox Memorial High School (15-4) at 5 p.m. Second-seeded Mahar Regional School (15-5) will entertain No. 3 Lee High School (20-0) at 6:30. The winners will advance to the championship match Saturday at 4 at the Bartley Center on the campus of Holyoke Community College.
Wednesday’s Western Massachusetts Division II Field Hockey Tournament semifinals were also postponed until today, along with site and time switches.
The Roberts Complex at Holyoke High School will now host the semifinal doubleheader — third-seeded Mohawk Trail Regional High School (7-6-4) takes on No. 2 Smith Academy (11-3-4) at 6 p.m., followed by top-seeded Frontier (13-4-1) vs. fourth-seeded Pioneer Valley Regional School (10-5-1) at 7:30.
Those winners are scheduled to meet Saturday at West Springfield High Schools’ Clark Field at either 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. for the sectional title.
