Bulletin Board: Champigny, Mickiewicz tie at Edge Hill
Paul Champigny and Justin Mickiewicz tied for top point quota at plus-4 Tuesday in the A Division of the Edge Hill Men’s Golf League in Ashfield.
Low gross went to Mark Graves with a 38, while Mickiewicz carded a 32 for low net.
Paul Champigny was closest to the pin on No. 16 (6 feet, 5 inches).
In the B Division, Charles Duchin posted plus-6 for top point quota. Mike Earl won low gross with a 42, and Nate Wynne’s 28 was good for low net.
Duchin was also closest to the pin on No. 16 (15-2).
Deerfield Rec registration
The Deerfield Recreation Department will sponsor youth soccer programs for children in grades K through 6 this fall.
Registration will be held Thursday and Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall in South Deerfield. Registration forms can also be found online at www.deerfieldma.us.
Registration fee is $50 per child.

Youth field hockey
Union 38 intro program
Deerfield Rec will conduct the Union 38 Introduction to Field Hockey program for girls in grades 3 through 6 from the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway.
The focus of the program will be on skill development with game scenarios later in the season.
Sticks, shin guards and balls (with a deposit) will be provided to the first 35 girls who register. Players are encouraged to wear a mouthguard.
Practices will be held on Sundays from Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Memorial Field in South Deerfield.
Fees are $10 for registration and $50 for equipment deposit. Parents are asked to write separate checks for each (equipment deposit checks will be returned at the last session, when all equipment is returned).

Don Maynard Memorial
The 20th annual Don Maynard Memorial 5-mile Road Race and 3-mile Walk will take place Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
The race begins and ends at the Green River Swimming & Recreation Area in Greenfield.
The first 100 registered participants will get a free T-shirt. Entry fee is $20 for the run and $14 for the walk. Registration forms can be picked up at the YMCA or the Body Shoppe in Greenfield, or by contacting Chuck Adams at 522-6688. Participants can also register online at www.runreg.com.
The third annual “Your First Mud Run” will take place at Holyoke Community College on Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.
The race covers two miles and features numerous obstacles such as wall climb, tires, jump ropes and a mud pit. The event is open to the whole family and is a good practice for those interested in running something larger, such as the Tough Mudder or Spartan Race. Every participant will get a T-shirt and a medal, and pictures and other gear will be available.
