Ashfield got it right the fourth time around.

After losing its three regular-season meetings to Tognarelli Heating & Cooling, sixth-seeded Ashfield not only got its revenge but knocked fifth-seeded Tognarelli out of the playoffs by posting a 6-5 victory in a Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League loser’s-bracket playoff game Tuesday night at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.

Ashfield and Tognarelli each scored twice in the first two innings. Ashfield grabbed a 5-4 lead after three, but Tognarelli pulled even again in the fourth, 5-5.

In the fifth, Danny Miner slapped a double and scored on Brady McCloud’s single to give Ashfield what turned out to be the deciding run.

Starting and winning pitcher Bruin Pratt made the lead stand up, shutting out Tognarelli over the final three innings. Pratt finished with a five-hitter and struck out six.

Miner and Pratt each finished with two hits for the winners, as did Riley DuPree and Avery Miraglia.

Nate Comiskey led Tognarelli with a pair of singles.

Ashfield advances to Saturday’s 5 p.m. loser’s-bracket semifinal against the winner of tonight’s game between fourth-seeded St. Kazimierz Society and second-seeded Turners Falls Athletic Club.
