Bulletin Board: Deszynski defends tennis title
Chris Deszynski served up his second consecutive Greenfield Tennis Cup championship Wednesday night with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tim Prevost in the title match at Davis Street Tennis Court in Greenfield.
Last season Deszynski defeated Steve Pedigree, 6-4, 7-5 in the title match, his first time entering the Greenfield Tennis Cup.
Chris Arsenault went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and four RBIs to lead Team Allure to a 11-1 win over French King Bowling Alley in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League game at Hillside Park in Greenfield.
Jerek Smith finished with three hits, and Jamie Poremba added one.
Ron Vachon went 3-for-3 for the bowling alley, and Josh Newton singled.
• In other action, Caleb Stempel hit for the cycle, going 6-for-6, and OPT and the Body Shoppe knocked off Wilkinson, 22-12, at Green River Field.
Mike Stempel went 6-for-6 in the win, and Cassie Kazar went 4-for-6.
Jen Antonellis drove in three runs in the loss, and Brad Barrett went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
• Elsewhere, Jon Rosario finished with six hits and five runs scored as the Doors knocked off RC Pratt, 19-10, at Green River.
Shera Smith finished with two hits in the win, and Bob Hayward added two hits and an RBI.
Antonio Rodriguez and Don Mailloux each homered in the loss, and Nikki Vatalaro chipped in two hits.
David Snow and David Bonnett lead the Greenfield Elks League at the Country Club of Greenfield with 44 points.
Gary Noga and Larry Jubb are second with 40 points.
Edge Ladies League
Ellen Bitzer shot an 18 during the Even-Holes Tournament at the Wednesday Ladies League at Edge Hill Golf Course in Ashfield.
Betty Graves came in second with a 20.
Judy O’Kula was closest to the pin on No. 6 at 18 feet, 11 inches.
Sally Malloy shot a 37 to win low gross and topped the weekly point quota at plus-8 during the Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club Ladies League Wednesday in Turners Falls.
Dorothy Adams was a plus-2 in the point quota, and Kate Dwyer was third at plus-1. Nancy Browning was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 39 feet, 1 inch.
Chet Czernich was a plus-6 to top the weekly point quota during the Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial.
Tom Coffin was second at plus-5. Steve Ciechomski was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 13 feet, 7 inches, while Coffin was closest on No. 9 at 3-2.
