Post 81 suffers 1st loss
Jeff Zebrowski fired a four-hit shutout and Aldenville Post 337 dealt Greenfield Post 81 its first loss of the season with a 6-0 verdict in a Hampden County American Legion Baseball game Tuesday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Greenfield.
Cam Kagan ripped an RBI single to break a scoreless tie in the third inning, and Aldenville added two more runs on an error and a wild pitch during the frame to take a 3-0 lead.
Kagan added another run-scoring single and Matt Baran walked with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 5-0, and Mike Roth drove in the final run in the seventh.
Kagan, Travis Seymour and Matt Wojnar all had two hits for Aldenville. Mike Bombard added a double.
Mark Buck, Tyler Charboneau, Sam Downes and Liam Datres de la Blotier all singled for Post 81.
Jeff Zebrowski finished with four strikeouts and three walks. He also hit a batter.
Greenfield starter and loser Ben Ruddock struggled, issuing five walks and five runs (four earned) while striking out three in 3 1/ 3 innings before he was relieved by Charboneau.
Greenfield (4-1) travels to Easthampton Post 224 today at 5:45 at Daley Field.
Greenfield 6, Aldenville 4 — Greenfield scored four runs in the first inning and held on to beat Aldenville, 6-4, in a Junior American Legion Baseball game Tuesday night at Szot Park in Chicopee.
Zach Wright pitched five innings for the win. He fanned seven and walked one. Kevin Luippold got the final out for the save.
Tim Momaney led the Greenfield offense by going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Wright belted a triple, Zach Demars clubbed an RBI single and Julian Diamond chipped in a single
Greenfield (6-0) travels to Whitney Park on Thursday at 5:45 to face Ludlow.
