Bulletin Board: Pipione's smacks St. Kaz

Jon Fritz and Connor Waitkus each struck out nine in three innings of work to register every out of the game by strikeout and Pipione’s Sport Shop defeated St. Kazimierz Society, 14-1, in a Newt Guilbault Community League baseball game at Gamelin Field in Turners Falls.

Andy Craver went 4-for-4 with three doubles to lead the offense in the win. Fritz went 4-for-4 with two doubles, and Waitkus clubbed a pair of doubles.

Tim Fritz, cousin of Jon, doubled for St. Kaz, and Taylor Murphy hit a two-bagger.


Evan Leaf and Jack Loud each pitched three strong innings for Denny’s Pantry during an 11-3 Greenfield Minor League Major Division victory over New Fortune Restaurant Friday night at Lunt Field in Greenfield.

Loud started the game and struck out seven in three innings, while Leaf finished the win off, striking out eight. Leaf finished with two hits and four RBIs for Denny’s, and Dylan Allen doubled and plated two runs. Julian Trenholm and Loud each collected two hits, and Peter Loud and Dar Newcomb each drove in a run.

Keith Broussard finished with two hits for New Fortune, while Anthony Holmes, Kyle Devlin and Zach Martineau each had one hit.

• In other action, Cameron Rice went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help make a winner out of himself as Greenfield Elks Lodge bested Maniatty Real Estate, 9-1.

Jared Hart belted a grand slam over the fence in the first inning for his second home run of the year, and Jake Cote went 2-for-2. Troy Emond and Ryan Cote each added one hit apiece in the win.

Jared Hubbard pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Maniatty. He also finished with two hits, while Mike McGoldrick added one hit.

Umpires & Coaches clinic

The Franklin County Babe Ruth League will sponsor its 19th annual Umpire and Coaches Clinic Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. to noon at Abercrombie Field.

The clinic will be given by members of the Hampshire-Franklin Umpires Association. The event is open to all area coaches and umpires, also aspiring umps, regardless of level. The umpires will answer questions relative to baseball rules, interpretations, and also give a segment on the balk rule for young pitchers.

Northfield Mount Hermon School defeated Suffield Academy, 14-2, in a prep girls’ lacrosse match on Friday.

NMH is now 5-6 overall.
