An adult peregrine falcon gazes out over Sunderland from its perch atop a fence post on Mount Sugarloaf in South (Deerfield at dusk Sunday. According to Tom French of Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, this is the (adult male of the pair that nests on the main cliff face of the mountain. This may be the original adult male of the pair, (which was banded as a chick in a nest on the Riverside Church in New York City on May 20, 1994. A pair has been nest(ing on Mount Sugarloaf since 2003 and has raised 19 chicks over that time.
