Vinson's last-second hoop helps UMass stun Memphis

BOSTON -- The biggest play of the University of Massachusetts men's basketball team's season was almost a turnover.

Trailing Memphis by a point with 3.1 seconds left Saturday at the TD Garden, Gary Correia had no open player to receive his inbounds pass so he lofted the ball hopefully toward Terrell Vinson in the lane.

Tigers guard D.J. Stephens picked off the pass, but Ricky Harris poked it out of his hands directly to Vinson. The freshman put it up without hesitation and the ball dropped in to give the Minutemen a 73-72 win.
