Dorothy K. Purrington

GREENFIELD -- Dorothy K. (Tamulis) Purrington, 88, died Saturday (12-5-09) at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

She was born in Enfield, Conn., on Feb. 18, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Anne (Jumuti) Tamulis.

She attended local schools in Connecticut. She traveled with her husband who was in the Air Force until their return to Greenfield. Upon her return, she was employed at the former Millers Falls Tool Company in Greenfield as a secretary for many years until her retirement. Her husband, Donald A. Purrington, pre-deceased her on Aug. 5, 1995.

Among her survivors she leaves a sister, Eva Carew of Thompsonville, Conn.; two nieces, Ruth Mann of Greenfield and Phyllis Smith of South Deerfield; a nephew, Barry Hale of Hampton, Va., and many great-nieces and nephews. Four siblings pre-deceased her: William Tamulis, Francis Daly, Alice Robinson and Ann Pych.

Funeral services will be Thursday (12-10-09) at 11 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., with the Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit officiating.

Burial will follow in Arms Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.
