ORANGE — A two-car crash on South Main Street, about a mile down the road from the town center Thursday evening, sent two to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The two cars collided head on, headed in opposite directions, around 6:20 p.m. Both drivers were initially trapped in their vehicles. LifeFlight was called, but was soon canceled.

The Jaws of Life was needed to remove a female from one of the vehicles, local police said.

The road was blocked off in both directions around Mahar Regional School for close to 50 minutes.

Orange police, fire and emergency medical services responded.

Both people were brought to Athol Memorial Hospital.
