2 hit by truck suffered minor injuries, according to police

GREENFIELD — The victims in Sunday’s truck vs. pedestrian accident on Main Street, a man and a teenager listed as homeless in Greenfield, were taken to the hospital with what police characterized as minor injuries.

Evan Morgan, 26, was treated and released from Baystate Franklin Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman had no information on the second victim, Justin Goodfield, 16, and homeless, according to police records.

Reported at 4:58 p.m., the accident occurred after dark and in steady rain by the Miles Street junction.

According to the police log, the two were crossing the street between crosswalks when they were struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The accident is under investigation.

People always think because they're on a cross-walk they're invincible. That cross-walk will protect them, and because people on a cross-walk have the right away they think they can just run right out into moving traffic.
