Letter: Free bus rides

The FRTA is going to offer Free Day again this year. It is something they have done for the last 10-plus years as a way of thanking passengers for their loyalty and as a way to “jump start” the holiday season, take advantage of Black Friday, etc. It’s necessary to find ways to help the FRTA increase ridership and it is essential for the local economy and environment. The FRTA has proposed increased services for the region. It’s my hope that people respond to this effort accommodating rider needs. Save your car, reduce your insurance and maintenance cost and start incorporating public transportation as a travel option. More use will help us get the weekend and holiday service we are asking for. Transportation Justice Franklin County (Facebook) encourages the taxpayers to use a resource they have paid for since 1978. We think its the civic responsibility of citizens, employers and retailers to use and promote this provided public service. Free Day on Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) is an opportune time to get out and use the bus.
