Letter: Missed opportunity

On Oct. 11, Northfield Mount Hermon School hosted the Harlem Wizards to campus as a fundraiser for the Jill E. Harrington Hanzalik Memorial Fund. This fun event, open to the public as well as the NMH community, attracted over 600 people and raised about $20,000 for this great local charity, created by Bernardston native Adam Harrington back in 2010.

I was greatly disappointed that the event received no coverage in The Recorder except for a small advance piece in Chip Ainsworth’s Saturday column two weeks before the event. I realize that a lot of factors go into the decision by a newspaper about which stories to cover and which ones to leave out of the paper on any given day. However, it is a shame that an incredible, feel-good, community event such as this, which raised money for a charity that does so many positive things in the local community, received no attention at all in the paper.
