Letter: All about hospital care

Well well, Chris Collins seems to have done a complete job of drinking Bay State Health Systems Kool-Aid. This is not about the “union,” it’s not about generating negative publicity about BSFMC. It’s about best serving patients in our local community. Anyone who has lived in Franklin County for a length of time has seen how services at Franklin have eroded since the takeover by BSHS. As a RN, I fully understand “economies of scale,” but I also understand the deliberate sucking sound when larger health conglomerates use smaller entities to feed their need to “feed the mother ship.” Bedside nurses know, community members know, and obviously some of our locally elected officials know this is not just to generate bad PR for BSHS. This is about how best to take care of those of us who are ill. Hmmm, some would say a prospective doc looking at BSFM might say “This looks like a community that stands up for their local hospital.”
