Letter: Guantanamo prisoners

Unless a person decides to look, it is easy to avoid seeing and feeling our responsibility as citizens for many of the imperialistic, anti-democratic policies of the U.S.

At the present moment, it is crucial that we take small actions for the men at Guantanamo Bay Prison. Most of them are on hunger strike since they have lost hope of ever being freed.

Please read The New York. Times’ opinion piece “Guantanamo is Killing Me,” of April 14 for heart-wrenching details. It is urgent that those men are given the hope of knowing that U.S. citizens care about their plight.

Please call President Obama’s line for public opinion, 202-456-1111

Let the White House know the president needs to keep his campaign promise to shut GTMO down.

Tell all your friends to do the same.
