Letter: Gun control
It was a difficult Christmas for many in this country. We have had bitter partisan battles in Congress, terrible storms on the East Coast and the ultimate tragedy in Newtown.
Where now can we find peace? The NRA would have us protect the children from guns with guns, but who will protect us all from those protectors? It seems wrongheaded to think that two wrongs can make anything right.
Can we put aside political differences now and work for some form of gun control? We accept searches in airports for our protection and we accept the government’s right to regulate driver’s licenses. Why shouldn’t the government then have some control over lethal weapons? It’s the only thing that makes sense.
