Letter: The prediction business

How am I to survive the next end of the world? This is to occur on Dec. 21, 2012 according to the Mayan calender. The so-called experts have been making this prediction most of my 70 years. I remember reading in my school weekly reader about the oceans drying up in the 1960s.

Then it was the atmosphere burning up due to hydrocarbons from spray cans or something like that. Then came the new ice age by environmentalist who predicted that Massachusetts would be under 100 feet of ice by the year 2000. We also can’t forget the end of our life as we knew it when the computers would all shut down at the beginning of the year 2000.

Now we have these same experts predicting the mean temperature will raise 2 to 5 degree in approximately 100 years and flood the world. And don’t forget super hurricanes, earth quakes, and volcanic eruptions that will end life on the earth, all due to global warming.

Then you have scientist stating that New Hampshire was once a tropical forest, and dinosaurs once walked in this area. What did they do during the winter, take a train to Florida? What I see is if they can make money off these predictions then they go for it. Personally I trust the predictions of the Farmer’s Almanac.
