Letter: Meeting a medical need
I would like to thank everyone who came out and voted “yes” on Question 3 to legalize medical marijuana for seriously ill people. Words cannot express the awe and gratitude I felt as I stood outside of the polls that day; so many people of all ages came up to me and told me that they had voted “yes” or gave me a thumbs up on their way out. I started speaking out about the benefits of medical marijuana after my son Silas passed on from cancer at the age of 29 in 2008. It was a promise I made to Silas, that I would work to legalize medical marijuana, as I saw how much it helped Sy’s quality of life. It is my hope that we can now get down to the work of making medical marijuana available to those who need it most.
