I was driving through Hinsdale the other day, something I rarely do. To my right was a sprawling complex of asphalt and industrial lighting. Of course, it was Walmart. It made me sick to drive past that behemoth. While few people would disagree that Greenfield needs a discount department store, we don’t need a monster of that scale in our town. Once it’s there, there is no turning back.
