Letter: Crop Walk coverage
On. Oct. 21, the Central Congregational Church of Orange hosted the 26th annual Franklin County Crop Walk to raise money for fighting hunger locally and worldwide. The weather was perfect, and walkers came from all over Franklin County, as well as some from Worcester Country to walk in solidarity with those who walk many miles everyday just to get their daily rations of food and water.
The weather was perfect, and if our count was accurate, 156 people participated in the walk. It was a joyous day, and we are pleased to report that $16,859 was donated as of Oct. 21. Thank you to everyone who participated in any way. You know who you are, and you understand the joy of giving.
Thank you also to The Recorder. We greatly appreciate your publishing our news releases and the publicity in Anita Fritz’s “Neighbors” column and the fall Valley Guide as well as the participation by your photographer, Trish Crapo, on the day of the walk. What a great picture she took (see Oct. 22 issue)!
