Letter: Let’s build a Paws Park
Some families are fortunate to be able to experience the unending love and companionship of a dog. We became such a family when we adopted our sweet pup Charlotte in August of last year.
Trusting her training and our bond over her innate love of the chase and having no fenced in safe place to run and play, Charlotte was struck by a passing car on the far side of the GCC/Colrain Road campus and passed away on Sept. 27. Words cannot express our deep sadness at losing her joy, love and companionship in our lives and the lives of those whose faces she brought a smile to.
In honor of her, I am asking the residents and council members of Greenfield to join me in moving forward an initiative for a Paws Park of Greenfield. Such an initiative requires not only space, but funding for a fence, adequate parking, commitment to maintenance, picking up after dogs, and a host of other needs. Many folks have shared with me their wish as well to have a safe place for our dogs to play.
I believe Greenfield is a community of caring residents who would support the creation our own dog park. I have done some research, but more is to be done and I am asking for your input. In order to put forth a formal request to the council, I need to gather data. Please complete this survey with your thoughts http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R99JVLC. A Paws Park of Greenfield Facebook page is being started to share information.
Please share this with your friends and share your input. Beacon Playground is a great example of what a community can do when it works together. I hope you will join me in working together again so that our furry friends can have a safe and fun place to run and for dog owners to meet and spend time outdoors with our pets.
