Letter: Bernardston 250th

Kudos to the Bernardston 250th Committee for the stupendous celebration.

The parade, under the direction of Bill Pratt, was well-organized and well-planned. The bands and the floats were outstanding. Town businesses, organizations, town services, schools and entries from our neighboring towns, were heartwarming.

The pageant on Friday night, under the orchestration of the Shedd family, was a journey down memory lane. The live musical numbers were especially enjoyed.

The senior center, under director Dianne Cornwell’s tutelage, outdid themselves for two days with raffles, tag sales, musical groups, food service and special events at P.I.

Food could be ordered and delivered on site from both the Kiwanis and the senior center. Cushman Park was humming all day with contests for adults and children.

In 2062, the 300th committee will have to ask itself this? “Can we top what they did 50 years ago?” Unfortunately, most of us won’t be around to help them make that possible, but we are leaving a legacy of love for a town we cherish.
