Letter: Dog problems

For the first time in many years, homeowners in the vicinity of Lincoln-Smith-High streets have observed several dogs off the leash roaming in their yards. They leave excrement and do damage such as knocked over vegetable and flower plants.

I have a small pond and saw a large brown, boxer type dog jumping into the water in the evening of July 31. Neighbors told me that they had observed several earlier “visits.”

The pond lining has been damaged and has to be replaced in the spring.

I very much enjoy meeting dogs and their owners on my walks and hope that the few people who ignore the “leash law” give it a thought so we can keep our yards and gardens free of damage.
