Letter: Measuring its value

Re: Rowe School

Do some of the residents of this town realize the future of this town is with our young people? Maybe they think they will live forever. Maybe they do not care what happens to the town when they are no longer here.

The quality of the education delivered by our Rowe School, starting with our one-room schoolhouse to the present, has produced a stellar academic record. It has produced young people who have started their own businesses, become educators themselves, gone into various fields that are making our town, state, country and, in some cases, other countries better places to live.

I only wish I had the finances to hire a sociology professional to research and evaluated the contributions Rowe School graduates have provided for society over the years. Also credit should be given to the devoted teachers, aides and administrators who have provided this education to our young people in their formative years.

As populations increase, it would seem more important than ever to have our own school. It will serve as a community center, meeting place and a refuge in case of emergency AND a school. There may be ways we can cut some of the school costs without affecting the quality of the education our students have received in the past and are receiving now. Let’s back our students, town and teachers and watch them all grow and excel.
