Letter: Government waste

Steve Sutherland’s letter to respond to Emily Goff’s claim to wasteful government spending, which I apologize that I did not read but agree with fully. Every day, the media is filled with stories like Solyndra, bridges to nowhere and hundreds of other waste the supposed experts in our elected government come up with.

Maybe we need drastic measures like shutting down the big garbage can in Washington so the country doesn’t wind up like Detroit. Failure to raise the debt ceiling, as Mr. Sutherland states, would be catastrophic as would the nation going bankrupt. If there are numerous responsible ways to address the problem as you stated in your letter, I sure wish you inform us of these and also our politicians in Washington as they seem to have no clue to solving this problem.
