Addiction in Franklin County

Series at a glance: Heroin in Franklin County shatters lives and costs us all

Cheap heroin has become all too available in Franklin County, and the region, afflicting not just its users but the community generally, as many of those addicts lead shattered lives and resort to crime to feed their addiction — and as medical, social service and criminal justice agencies try to cope with the hundreds of lives affected.

Recorder reporter Chris Curtis has spent much of the past several weeks investigating the local effects of heroin and abused opiate drugs. His five-part series begins Monday.
