Hi 34° | Lo 15°

Letter: Speak out

After being reassured by a number of town councilors that a nonbinding referendum would be placed on the ballot this year asking voters how they feel about a split tax rate, I was dismayed it was voted down.

Over the years, the citizens of Greenfield have come forward to indicate the need for a split tax rate.

There needs to be an open forum for residents to communicate their desire for a split tax rate. For those residents who wish to speak to their town councilors, please contact the Town Hall at 772-1555, ext. 113, and request the list of town councilors for 2012-13 or fax them at 413-772-1542.

Becoming an involved citizen of Greenfield, whether its supporting a split tax rate or supporting the biomass moratorium, can begin with you. Your views and opinions make Greenfield a better community!
