Letter: On the Legion menu

The American Legion Post 81 is still active and functioning. Our new, temporary meal site is at the Guiding Star Grange on upper Chapman Street and the meals are open to the public. Our monthly member meetings are held at Smitty’s Pub on lower Chapman Street.

The Monday evening dinners continue, but at 5:30 p.m. Watch for menu listings in the “Talk of the Towns” in the FRIDAY edition of The Recorder. Chef Sharon has changed the menus slightly, but the old favorites of meatloaf, ham, beef stew, Yankee pot roast, lasagna, macaroni and cheese and baked stuffed chicken are still available. For donation of only $8, you will receive salad or slaw, potato or pasta, meat, vegetable, dessert, coffee, tea or water. This is a real bargain in this tight economy! On Monday, Feb. 24, the menu lists a turkey dinner with all the usual “fixins.”

Please consider supporting the American Legion on Monday night. While it is true that our building is for sale, we still need help for maintenance, fuel and electricity. Come to the Guiding Star Grange. The parking lot is well lit, handicapped accessible and free. The food is great, the company is great and you will feel good helping Post 81 with your generosity. This is our only fundraiser and we need your support.

Ladies Auxiliary,

American Legion Post 81
