Whately TT rollover closes ramp
The mangled guard rail on the exit 24 off ramp where a tractor trailer unit went through it spilling its load of flour. The roof of the trailer is still pinned under flour being removed by workers Monday morning.
What is left of the full size box trailer is loaded upside down on a large flatbed truck for removal at the Rt 91 exit 24 northbound ramp after crashing on the ramp over the guard rail dumping its load of flour.
WHATELY — A tractor-trailer accident closed Interstate 91 North exit 24 early Monday morning and sent the driver to the hospital.
“A tractor-trailer rolled over, right off the ramp,” said State Police Trooper Jason Yagodzinski.
“A male party was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Only the driver of the tractor-trailer was hurt in the single-vehicle accident, the cause of which remains under investigation.
The accident occurred at approximately 2 a.m., Yagodzinski said, and the exit remained closed 12 hours later as workers finished guardrail repair.
Police reported traffic had resumed by 5 p.m.
The driver, Michael T. Farrell, 46, of Rochester, N.Y., was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with a complaint of back pain, according to a state police spokesman.
Farrell was still being evaluated Monday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
